[Sendai Girls][RESULTS] 8/31/19

I attended Sendai Girls' August 31 event at Shin-Kiba First Ring in Tokyo. For those of you who are unfamiliar, Sendai Girls is a Sendai-based company that has existed since 2006, and has the most to offer out of all female wrestler (or as they are called in Japan, “joshi”) companies in the industry, from legendary talent, to experienced veterans, to young new talent. Meiko Satomura is the brains behind Sendai Girls, but she is far from being someone who puts the spotlight on herself. Although Satomura is a former Sendai Girls World Champion, she usually stays far away from the World Championship scene, instead wrestling in the midcard with newer, less experienced talent, which helps them learn what to do and not to do in the ring as they continue to progress in their careers.

In the first match, Manami faced Mei Suruga. One of the youngest wrestlers on the Sendai Girls roster and trained by Meiko Satomura, Manami has the skills and aggressiveness to have a bright future in the pro-wrestling industry.

Mei Suruga was a very good opponent for Manami. Also just getting started in her career with one year of experience (Manami has two years of experience), Suraga is full of energy, skill, and enthusiasm.

The match went back and forth, Manami and Mei Suruga attempting to maintain an upper hand, even taking the action to the mat with submissions.

Impressive submissions continued to dominate this match, but both Manami and Mei Suruga refused to give up.

With submissions not giving the desired result, Manami and Mei Suruga began trading forearm shots.

In the end, Manami managed to pin Mei Suruga's shoulders to the mat for a three count and the victory.

Next was AKARI going against KAORU. AKARI's career began this year and she is a member of the PURE-J roster.

AKARI was accompanied by her trainer and PURE-J owner Command Bolshoi.

KAORU is a member of the Marvelous roster who has been very accomplished on the Japanese pro-wrestling scene over the past 32 years: Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion, 2-time AJW Tag Team Champion, 2-time Sendai Girls World Tag Team Champion, and JWP Tag Team Champion. She also appeared in WCW and CMLL in the 1990's.

At first it appeared that KAORU was going to give AKARI a fair match.

But KAORU soon gave AKARI a sample of why she earned the nickname "Original Hardcore Queen", a reputation that she gained in the 1990's, as she became very aggressive with AKARI, even taking the match outside the ring into the crowd.

AKARI fought back, and it appeared at times that she was going to gain an upset win over KAORI.

This was only temporary however, as KAORI's experience prevailed and she defeated AKARI after delivering her, "Excalibur" finisher.

In the next match, Meiko Satomura went against Mikoto Shindo.

Meiko Satomura is a legend of the ring, and is considered by many to be the greatest female wrestler of all time. Aside from her classic matches in Japan, American pro-wrestling fans may be familiar with Satomura from her appearances in WCW very early in her career in the 1990's, and her participation in WWE's Mae Young Classic tournament in 2018.

Mikoto Shindo is a member of the Marvelous roster and her career began last year, which is getting off to a great start. Earlier this year Shindo became Sendai Girls Junior Champion, so she is at Sendai Girls events often.

The match was a learning experience for Mikoto Shindo, but she showed fighting spirit in her match with Meiko Satomura.

After eleven minutes of action, Meiko Satomura defeated Mikoto Shindo after hitting her with her Death Valley Bomb finisher.

In the semi-main event, DASH Chisako & Hiroyo Matsumoto faced Mei Hoshizuki & Ryo Mizunami. DASH & Matsumoto are both very accomplished in the tag team scene- DASH is a 4-time former Sendai Girls Tag Team Champion, while Matsumoto has been SHIMMER Tag Team Champion and Goddesses Of Stardom Champion.

Mei Hoshizuki is a member of the Marvelous roster, and was trained by Marvelous owner Chigusa Nagayo, who also trained Meiko Satomura.

Ryo Mizunami is a member of the WAVE roster (where she has been WAVE Tag Team Champion) but she has been wrestling in Sendai Girls for many years, always displaying great talent and showmanship whenever she's in the ring.

It didn't take long for the action to begin.

Showing great teamwork, Hiroyo Matsumoto and DASH Chisako tagged in and out while preventing Mei Hoshizuki from tagging out for a long period of time.

Once able to tag in, Ryo Mizunami began taking control with chops.

A powerful wrestler herself, Hiroyo Matsumoto then began trading chops with Ryo Mizunami.

Hiroyo Matsumoto turned the tide of the match in her team's favor when she and Ryo Mizunami both went for a clothesline, and Matsumoto was left still standing.

DASH Chisako then tagged in, and she and Ryo Mizunami engaged in back and forth action.

Once Mei Hoshizuki tagged back in, she began showing off her impressive agility.

When DASH Chisako & Hiroyo Matsumoto attempted to double team Mei Hoshizuki, Ryo Mizunami interrupted by hitting them with a double clothesline, but Matsumo then responded by hitting her and Hoshizuki with a belly-to-back suplex.

Just as Ryo Mizunami and Hiroyo Matsumoto traded blows in the middle of the ring earlier in the match, DASH Chisako and Mei Hoshizuki eventually began doing the same.

In the end, DASH Chisako & Hiroyo Matsumoto's experience as a team gained them the victory.

In the main event, Ayame Sasamura & Sareee teamed to face Chihiro Hashimoto & Yuu. Sasamura was representing 2AW, a Chiba-based promotion that she wrestles for. Sasamura is a former Sendai Girls Junior Champion, and the first one in Sendai Girls history.

Sareee is the current Sendai Girls World Champion. She has held the title since June, when she defeated Chihiro Hashimoto for it.

Chihiro Hashimoto has held the Sendai Girls World Championship 4 times, which is more times than any other wrestler in Sendai Girls history. She is also a former Sendai Girls Tag Team Champion. Hashimoto is an impressive talent, with natural-born power, the pro-wrestling training of Meiko Satomura, and surprising agility.

Yuu is also a powerhouse, and along with Sendai Girls, she has wrestled in other notable companies such as WAVE, PURE-J and DDT in Japan, and PROGRESS and RevPro in the UK.

They look like future Sendai Girls Tag Team Champions, wouldn't you agree?

A show of respect was displayed between the two teams before the match.

Chihiro Hashimoto & Yuu dominated the match early with their power.

Ayame Sasamura & Sareee had the advantage in speed and agility, and they used this to temporarily keep Chihiro Hashimoto & Yuu off their feet.

Howevr, Chihiro Hashimoto & Yuu's power advantage won out, gaining them the victory.
