A very special tag-team match will be hosted by Michinoku Pro at 2020 Tokyo Tournament-Struggle for Power- on December 11 at the Korakuen Hall (6:30 PM start time). And this match will feature a legend of the ring, as Emi Sakura will be one of the participants! She is currently best known for her appearances in AEW, a United States-based company which presents a program on national TV every week.
Before joining AEW, Emi Sakura had already established herself as a legend during her career in Japan, her championship reigns including the AJW Championship, the NWA Women's Pacific Championship, the JWP Openweight Championship, the Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship, the JWP Tag Team Championship, and the Daily Sports Women's Tag Team Championship. Sakura was also the winner of the JWP Best Bout Award in 2012.
Along with having a greatly successful career as a wrestler, Emi Sakura is also an accomplished trainer. She has been responsible for launching the careers of over 40 wrestlers, the biggest achievers being current AEW Women's Champion Hikaru Shida and former AEW Women's Champion Riho. Last year, Sakura competed with Riho in a match for the Championship at an AEW PPV event.
And when Emi Sakura comes to the Korakuen Hall on December 11, she won't be arriving alone. Sakura is the founder of Gatoh Move, a Thailand-based promotion where she is the current co-holder of the Asia Dream Tag Team Championship. Her match at this Michinoku Pro event will represent Gatoh Move, as she will team with Gatoh Move talent Mei Suruga (who was trained by Sakura) against Chie Koishikawa (another Sakura-trained Gatoh Move talent) and Baliyan Akki (who appears frequently in Gatoh Move and is the first and thus far, only Indian pro-wrestler in Japan).
