Archive Interview: Vik Dalishus

(originally published 8/24/05)

Vik Dalishus is one of the stars of the pro-wrestling industry's future. He frequently works for OVW and WWE. Dalishus was also a contestant in the Tough Enough 2 Tryouts.

Q: How long have you been involved in the business?

A: I have been wrestling for 4 1/2 years.

Q: Why did you enter the pro-wrestling industry?

A: I read about a wrestling school in Upstate NY in my local paper. It was just the thing i was looking for. I had looked at other schools, but the were no where near where I was living and i wanted to put college first.

Q: Where did you receive your training to become a pro-wrestler?

A: I started training for World Of Hurt Wrestling in Schenectady NY, just north of Albany. Its was an hour and a half down there, and an hour and a half back. JP Black was my first trainer, then Danger.

Q: What do you like the most about being in the business?

A: I Love Wrestling. The Politics suck big time, but once I am in the ring, I let my wrestling to the talking for me. Even if you're having a bad day, it all doesn't matter because I get to do the one thing I love, and that's perform.

Q: Which persona appeals to you the most: Face, Heel, or Tweener?

A: Definitely a Tweener. On any given day, I could be loved by the people, or completely hated by them. I love wrestling as a natural bad guy, but sometimes people just wanna see Vik Dalishus kick somebody's ass.

Q: What is your gimmick?

A: I am a cocky, arrogant, fun guy, who has a real bad ass mean streak. I love to dance and sing to my own music, and just be full of myself. I am Dalishus ya know!

Q: Which do you feel has been your best match so far?

A: I have had so many good matches. I think my match with CM Punk about a month ago was a bright spot, it got me noticed by WWE, and I hope I can keep it up. I also had a great match with Chad Collyer vs MNM in April, in a dark match the night before they debuted on, "SmackDown!".

Q: Which has been your favorite match so far?

A: My Favorite match? Hmmm, I guess my match with Sean O'Haire would be, because it was my first ever Dark match with WWE. Maybe not my favorite, but my most memorable.

Q: When you were participating in the Tough Enough 2 Tryouts, did you see anyone there that made you ask yourself, "What makes that guy/girl think that they have what it takes to be a pro-wrestler?

A: Well, There were some people who were just a little weird, but they usually do a good job of sorting through that crap and getting the real people there. I know that Matt Morgan was picked to be on it way before we even auditioned. He showed up at the auditions with a camera crew.

Q: Whom would you like to wrestle, that you have not yet done so?

A: I would Love to wrestle OVW Champ Johnny Jeter. In 2 1/2 years at OVW, I never had a one on one encounter with Jeter. I also have a real big desire to compete for TNA and ROH. I know that I could succeed at OVW, but I want to find out just how good I am. Guys like Elix Skipper, Jerry Lynn, Raven, AJ Styles. These guys I never really got a chance to wrestle, because I dedicated my time to OVW. Now I want to wrestle in Indy's best.

Q: With your experience in OVW and WWE, a developed ring persona, and your own "Vik Clik", a WWE developmental contract may be in your near future. How do you think that you would be best utilized if WWE added you to their roster?

A: Who Knows. I could fit in anywhere. I think Vik Dalishus is a versatile personality that could just as easily be hanging with Eugene and rocking and rolling with Carlito. I hope that I have proven that I am a valuable asset to whatever company wants me. WWE is the big money making place, but I might find better match-ups in TNA. We will see!

Q: What do you do in your spare time?

A: I LOVE sports. Any chance I get to watch Sportscenter, or Cold pizza I will stop what I am doing to watch. I'm a Big big big big time football fan as well. When I get free time though, I'm usually at the gym, trying to improve my body. It's a LONG process.

Q: What is your long-term goal in the business?

A: I want to make a name for myself. I want people to know who I am, and think of a guy who was one of the most entertaining guys that they ever saw. Titles are cool, but VD has never been about titles. It's about Women and Money. Thank you very much for the interview man!!

I hope you enjoyed this interview with Vik Dalishus. In 2003, I began running my own website, World Wrestling Optimum, which consisted of news, articles, and interviews, including this one.
