Although both Johnny Gargano and Angel have been focusing on the tag team scene this year, neither man is a stranger to singles success, with Gargano's championship accolades including a reign as WWE NXT Champion, and the WWE NXT Cruiserweight Championship being amongst the championships on Angel's resume.
Johnny Gargano and Angel were in NXT at the same time from 2019 to 2020, but a match never took place between the two. With Gargano having 19 years of experience and Angel having 15 years of experience, it will be very interesting to see what happens when these two veterans face each other in singles action for the first time in their careers. Both Gargano and Angel's ring styles are an asset in matches that feature WWE Speed's rapid pace. Angel's offense is always quick and includes agility-based moves that can put an opponent on the mat immediately and in position for a potential cover. Meanwhile, Gargano has the technical skills to keep an opponent grounded and put their shoulders on the mat for a three-count. Both men will deliver a match that features impressive displays of athleticism, but only one of them will make it to the next round and go against former WWE NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed in the semi-finals.
