The wrestling world continues to mourn the passing of Hulk Hogan, but even in grief, his legacy is set to live on in a physical new way. SLAM Sports Bar, a highly anticipated destination for fans of sports and entertainment, is scheduled to open this fall in New York City directly across from Madison Square Garden, which is one of the most iconic arenas in the world and has hosted countless popular events, featuring NBA basketball, boxing, MMA, tennis, NHL ice hockey, concerts, college sports, and course, wrestling. SLAM is envisioned as a living tribute to the global culture icon.
This project is especially significant because it was originally created and shaped by Hulk Hogan himself before his passing. It stands as a testament to his enduring vision and spirit, promising to be a place where fans can celebrate the remarkable moments that defined his legacy.
Hulk Hogan's connection to Madison Square Garden is legendary. It was at MSG in 1984 that he won his first WWE Championship, marking the beginning of Hulkamania.
Hogan also headlined the inaugural WrestleMania in the very same arena in 1985. Another accomplishment is that he sold out 18 shows at MSG between 1985 and 1989. Hogan himself once declared, "This is the house that Hulk Hogan rebuilt. I've spent 40 years of my life tearing this place down. To any wrestler or athlete this is like the Roman Colosseum. If you can survive MSG as a gladiator, you've made it in the sports world." This deep, personal connection to MSG and his fans was the driving force behind SLAM.
Rich Rosen, President and CEO of American Sports Bar Entertainment and Hulk Hogan's partner in the venture, shared a message highlighting the commitment to Hogan's dream. "Hulk Hogan wasn't just a partner. He was a dear friend and a legend whose impact on sports and entertainment is immeasurable," Rosen said. "From the very beginning, Hulk poured his heart into this project. He shaped the spirit of what SLAM was meant to be, a place where fans from around the world could gather at the very corner where his legend began, to celebrate his legacy and the unforgettable moments that defined his career."
Rich Rosen emphasized his unwavering dedication to seeing Hulk Hogan's vision through: "I made a promise to Hulk that we'd bring this dream to life. That promise remains unshakable. SLAM will open its doors as a living tribute to Hulk Hogan, right across from Madison Square Garden, the place he called home. It will be the greatest sports entertainment venue New York has ever seen. This is for Hulk, and for every person whose life was touched by the power of Hulkamania."
SLAM Sports Bar is designed to offer an immersive experience that blends the excitement of sports, Hogan-related nostalgia, and a strong sense of community. Fans can expect broad views of Madison Square Garden, enhanced versions of classic bar food, and exclusive/authentic memorabilia from Hulk Hogan's personal collection
There are also plans for dynamic programming, including theme nights, podcast tapings, influencer takeovers, celebrity appearances, and events featuring New York sports legends. SLAM Sports Bar's opening will be preceded by a multi-week citywide campaign, including a "T-Shirt Rip Tour" through famous New York landmarks and a fan-fueled "Dress Like Hulk" contest, culminating in a red-carpet launch event.
With the countdown to SLAM’s grand opening set to begin this fall, it's already established that it will stand not only as a new destination for fans but as a powerful, living promise to honor the legend, remember the man, and help keep Hulkamania alive.
