History was made on the May 23 episode of WOW - Women Of Wrestling, when new WOW World Tag Team Champions were crowned. In the main event, Ashley Blaze and Tara Strike defeated Best 4 Business (Kara Kai & Sandy Shore) and defending champions Miami's Sweet Heat in a "Triple Threat" match to win the championship. This is their first reign.
Before this match, the WOW World Tag Team Championship had never changed hands in a "Triple Threat" match since the title's inception in 2001. With there being twice as many opponents in the ring to break up pinfalls, "Triple Threat" tag team matches are one of the hardest tag team championship matches to win.
Ashley Blaze and Tara Strike are one of the newer permanent tag teams in WOW. Previously, Strike had a partnership with Kara Kai, but it turned sour after Kai no-showed a WOW World Tag Team Title match and secretly began sabotaging Strike. This led to Blaze becoming her new permanent partner. Blaze's speed & agility, combined with Strike's karate skills, bring a new dynamic to the championship scene.
Beyond the immediate silver and glory, the victory enters Ashley Blaze and Tara Strike into an elite chapter of WOW's history books. By scaling to the top of the tag team division, they firmly embed their names into the lineage of champions who have anchored the company's tag team division over the years, which includes Big Rig Betty & Jessie Jones, Amber O'Neal & Santana Garrett, and Caged Heat.
Ashley Blaze and Tara Strike now represent the determination that defines WOW Superhero tag teams, but they won't have much time to take a breather and revel in their success because they now have targets on their backs, with many Superheroes hungry for an opportunity at the title, including Animal Instinct (Goldie Collins and Katarina Jinx), and members of the Alliance and Enlightened factions. However, Blaze and Strike have proven that they're prepared to carry the weight of responsibility that comes with being WOW World Tag Team Champions.
