From the Ring to the Big Screen: How Independent Wrestler Vinny Pacifico Is Taking On Film

When independent pro-wrestler Vinny Pacifico recently sat down on ABC affiliate WJLA’s Good Morning Washington, he was upbeat and positive. And the main topic of conversation wasn't his wrestling career- it was his involvement with the acting world.

During the interview, Vinny Pacifico talked about how his experiences having to adapt on the fly as a pro-wrestler help him as an actor. Pacifico is naturally able to adjust to changes, which has not only helped in the wrestling ring, but also on the movie set, where directors frequently modify lines, scenes, and angles spontaneously.

Earlier this month, Vinny Pacifico filmed STRENGTH BEYOND SCARS in Maryland, which will be presented by Chima Movie Empire Productions, a film production company led by CEO Prince Chima. The film is a story about overcoming abuse, domestic violence, and other trauma.

And Vinny Pacifico's film resume is extensive. Slasher horror film Crimzon Harvest, thriller film Deadly End, and psychological horror anthology The Hours That Keep Us are some of the many movies that you will see him a part of in the near future.

In addition, Vinny Pacifico has acting roles and executive producer/producer credits for both the upcoming horror film The Forsaken Few and the wrestling-themed dark comedy/horror film Mr. Reset and the Society of Turnbuckle & Bone.

Many pro-wrestlers who have gotten into acting spent most or all of their wrestling career working for a major promotion, where they were guided by a writing team and were used to being in a polished environment. Meanwhile, an independent wrestler like Vinny Pacifico develops their character on their own, he has had the opportunity to hone his improvisational skills for over a decade, and he has performed in all types of environments, from wrestling in front of 100 fans and being allowed to connect with them easily, to being in front of thousands of fans during a match that is being broadcast live on national television. A career shaped by this type of diversity can be appealing to a movie director.

Vinny Pacifico has built his pro-wrestling reputation globally by displaying his talent in a number of notable promotions, including WWE NXT, AEW, ROH, NJPW, MLW, UWN Gotham Wrestling, CZW, IWA MS, and NEW. Pacifico was trained by ROH Dojo, and it was in ROH where he had one of his most significant wins, being the victor of a Future of Honor singles match in 2019. Future of Honor matches gave younger and newer-generation wrestlers a chance to show their skills on the ROH stage.

No matter the size of the crowd he's in front of or the level of promotion he's performing for, Vinny Pacifico is a perfect example of a pro-wrestler with career drive and a growth mindset. As an independent wrestler, he's responsible for growing his popularity, getting booked, the development of his character, his promos, his brand, his travel, and what directions he takes his career in as a performer both within and outside of the pro-wrestling industry. Pacifico's self-motivation is proof of his dedication to both of his crafts.
