AEW Files "Bacon Brawl" Trademarks: What Could It Be?

AEW likes to trademark unique and memorable phrases. From "Blood & Guts" to "Anarchy In The Arena," the company has a history of creating special matches and events that become instant fan favorites. AEW's latest filings is their most unique to date: "AEW Bacon Brawl" and "Bacon Brawl."

The trademark applications cover a wide range of goods and services, including everything from apparel like t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats to cookware, barbecue utensils, and even prepared meals. The complete range of the trademarks have sparked a high level of speculation about what AEW has planned.

Many assume "Bacon Brawl" is going to be a gimmick match sponsored by a bacon or breakfast company. This wouldn't be out of character for AEW, which has created unique, branded spectacles in the past. We have already seen a wild "Tailgate Brawl" match earlier this month, which demonstrated the promotion's willingness to integrate food-themed chaos, as cooler boxes, a charcoal grill, and a barbecue set/utensils were utilized.

"Bacon Brawl" could be a new, chaotic food-themed match, perhaps held on a pre-show, possibly with a ring filled with bacon or bacon-related "weapons" supplied by a corporate sponsor.

Another possible situation is that "Bacon Brawl" is a new product line. Considering the fact that the trademarks cover cookware, it's a reasonable guess that AEW could be launching its own line of branded barbecue products, such as signature barbecue sauces or a collection of branded cooking utensils- it's not even far-fetched to say that it could be a line of bacon.

Given AEW's strong merchandise presence (its global online shop of diverse merchandise allows fans in 224 countries to purchase merchandise directly), the company's entry into the food and beverage market isn't a stretch- especially when it comes to bacon. The market for bacon as a product is currently strong and experiencing steady growth, making the surrounding products a potentially beneficial venture. The massive global market was valued at approximately $73 billion in 2024 and is projected to expand at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of around 3% to 4.4% in the coming years, signaling sustained, high consumer demand. This is driven by bacon's enduring popularity, its versatility in a wide array of dishes (from breakfast to fast food), and the increasing consumer preference for convenient, ready-to-eat options. This powerful, ongoing cultural significance and the overall health of the food market create a favorable environment for AEW to either license its brand into a related product line or secure a lucrative, long-term sponsorship deal.

These trademarks has already become a huge conversation piece among wrestling fans online, so whatever the actual plan is, AEW has once again succeeded in creating immense buzz and getting fans and the wrestling media talking before the official announcement.
