Wrestler Spotlight: Yuma Makoto - A Joshi with a Dual Persona

Along with featuring many legends, World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana also introduces the world to new-generation talents, and one of those talents is Yuma Makoto, who very early in her career is showing duality and potential as a part of Diana's future.

Yuma Makoto made her in-ring debut on October 8, 2023 at Korakuen Hall in a match with Himiko, and even though Makoto lost to her experienced opponent, Makoto left a lasting positive impression on the fans in attendance as they looked forward to seeing her grow as a wrestler in the future, with some fans feeling that it was the best debut match they had seen. Makoto displayed fearless determination and showed that she is a natural for the wrestling ring.

While still in the very early stages of her career, Makoto's style is already beginning to take shape. She presents a well-rounded moveset, as she executes both high-flying and technical maneuvers with grace and precision.

Along with a moveset, Yuma Makoto has also developed an in-ring persona. She has a dual persona- she can be the gentle "Makoto" or the fierce "Yuma", and it's not known in advance which version of her is going to show up. This has the potential to help her stand out more on the World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana roster, and it is why Makoto refers to herself as, "the Janus god of Diana". In Roman mythology, Janus is the god of beginnings, transitions, doorways, and duality. He's often depicted with two faces, one looking forward and one looking back.

The face looking forward represents the future, beginnings, and new opportunities, as it signifies looking ahead with anticipation and readiness for what's to come. The face looking back symbolizes the past, experiences, and lessons learned, as it represents acknowledging the journey that led to the present and using that knowledge to move forward. Janus embodies the concept of duality and transitions by having two faces. Similarly, Yuma Makoto's dual persona of gentle “Makoto" and fierce “Yuma" reflects this transitional aspect. She can access both sides of herself depending on the situation, much like how Janus can look back on the past while also facing the future.

Yuma Makoto's dual persona fits perfectly in World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana, which has a name that is Roman mythology-inspired- in Roman mythology, Diana is the goddess of the hunt, the moon, wilderness, and childbirth.

With Yuma Makoto's dedication, passion, as well as being on the same roster as veterans who she can gain invaluable knowledge from, Makoto is in a position where she can make a significant impact in World Woman Pro-Wrestling Diana. Makoto's journey surely will be one filled with excitement, challenges, and triumphs; and fans will be watching to see how she evolves as a wrestler.

In 2017, Maki Yuhara launched Yanagase Pro Wrestling, a promotion based in Gifu, Japan, where it presents three events per month at SPORTS BAR M's Cafe (3 Chome-9 Yanagasedori, Gifu). This Friday, March 29 at 8:00 pm (doors open at 7:30pm), it will be the site of Yuhara's birthday celebration.

Manji helped Kennedy with his training many times, so not only will it be a match between two YPW favorites, but it will also be student vs. teacher.

You can get ticket information by contacting YPW on Twitter here, by contacting Jack Kennedy on Twitter here, or by contacting Mari Manji on Twitter here.

Wrestler Spotlight: OSO11 - Michinoku Pro's Most Unorthodox Wrestler

Michinoku Pro is unique in many ways, and one example is that it's the home promotion of OSO11, one of the most unorthodox wrestlers on the roster. Introduced to Michinoku Pro by Ayumu Gunji in July 2022 as his tag team partner, OSO11 is powerful, along with being amazingly fast and agile for someone who is 254 pounds, and his win-loss record includes wins over wrestlers such as legend The Great Sasuke and former Tohuko Junior Heavyweight Champion Taro Nohashi.

Bear-like in behavior, right down to carrying a fish around at times, OSO11's opponents are never sure what he's going to do next. And OSO11 has captured the attention of fans as well, because both in terms of ring style and persona, there has never been someone in Michinoku Pro quite like OSO11.

OSO11 is at a good stage of his career. Still young and developing a strong persona at this point sets him up well for the coming years, as there is time for OSO11 to adapt even more and also improve as a wrestler. And wrestling for Michinoku Pro gives him the opportunity to wrestle and learn from many experienced veterans, as he did in this match with Rui Hyugaji:

It will be interesting to see how OSO11 further develops both as a wrestler and as a performer, as he continues to wrestle experienced talents in Michinoku Pro's distinctive environment.

[YPW][TwitCasting] "Ladius Friday Night Match" on 3/22 LIVE

Yanagase Pro Wrestling (YPW) presents, "Ladius Friday Night Match" this Friday, March 22 at SPORTS BAR M's Cafe, with the event starting at 8:00 PM. Ladius is the ladies' division of YPW. Twice a month, "Ladius Friday Night" is broadcast LIVE on TwitCasting, a livestreaming service based in Japan that has over 33 million registered users worldwide.

Sae and Mari Manji know each other better than anyone. Every year, they engage in a series of matches, testing their skills and improving along the way, as they push their limits. Winning Doutonbori Pro Wrestling's WDW Women's Championship two weeks ago appears to have been a boost to Manji's motivation, as she now has two wins in a row over Sae. Will this week be a hat trick for Manji with three wins in a row, or will Sae rally and pull out a victory? You can find out live on TwitCasting for only 1,000 yen, which is around 7 USD. Be there at 20:00 Japan Time!

And after you've watched the "Friday Night Match", check out the March 16 Yanagase Pro Wrestling event that was broadcast live on TwitCasting, to see what the men's division of YPW has to offer.

Yanagase Pro Wrestling was founded in 2017 and presents 3 - 4 events per month (with 2 of them being Ladius events), the final event of the year being an annual Christmas Special. Along with YPW's own talented roster, its events also feature stars of the Japanese wrestling scene who have had impressive accomplishments outside of YPW. All YPW events can be watched live via TwitCasting and are available to watch in full for the following two weeks after the live broadcast.

Michinoku Pro 5/4 Aomori Event! Tohoku Tag Team Championship on the Line!

Michinoku Pro will present a special event on May 4 at Aomori City Hamanasu Hall (2:00 PM start time). Not only will it celebrate the return of Ringo Yamaya to his hometown of Aomori, but he and Rasse will defend their recently won Tohoku Tag Team Champioship against Brahman Shu and Brahman Kei in the main event. The Tohoku Tag Team Championship has the distinction of having legends a part of its legacy, such as The Great Sasuke, Jinsei Shinzaki, Último Dragón, Kensuke Sasaki, and Dick Togo.

This will be Rasse & Ringo Yamaya's first defense since winning the Tohoku Tag Team Championship last week. While this is Rasse's third reign, Yamaya has quickly shown his value as a tag team partner, accomplishing the impressive feat of becoming a co-holder of the championship with only one year of in-ring experience. Meanwhile, Brahman Shu & Brahman Kei have one of the most outstanding records as Tohoku Tag Team Champions, being the team with the most reigns, with four of them under their belts.

The rest of the card will be announced in the near future, but it's already clear that this will be a must-see event! Tickets are available at Lawson Ticket, Ticket Pia, e +, and via Michinoku Pro Wrestling Telephone Reservation- 019 (687) 2431.

On an important note, if you purchase a ticket from someplace other than the online shop, you will have to write your address, name, and phone number on the ticket stub (the smaller one) in order to be able to enter the arena.

Wrestler Spotlight: Sae - Forging Her Own Path

Sae is a very active wrestler on the independent Japanese wrestling scene, as she maintains a strong presence at her home promotion of Yanagase Pro Wrestling and its ladies' division, Ladius, while simultaneously venturing out to other parts of the scene at least five times a month, showcasing her talent and ambition.

A resilient competitor who is willing to do whatever it takes to win whether it's wrestling a technical style, a more physical style, or breaking the rules, Sae is respected by fans for her skills.

Sae's career began in September 2017, making her debut in REINA, which was a small Chiba-based promotion that focused on women's wrestling. Less than a year later, Sae began appearing in larger promotions, wrestling for Ice Ribbon, ZERO1, WAVE, and PURE-J, honing her abilities all along. But Sae's main focus became the Kanagawa-based SEAdLINNNG, where she became co-holder of the SEAdLINNNG Beyond The Sea Tag Team Championship in 2019. That same year, Sae began wrestling in Yanagase Pro Wrestling, becoming one of the promotion's key lady wrestlers. Today she continues to be a tough challenge for wrestlers who are new to the Ladius/Yanagase Pro Wrestling ring.

Sae's style makes her stand out on the wrestling cards that she’s on. Sae enters the ring gracefully, but once the bell rings, she presents an aggressive moveset that keeps Sae's opponent on the mat, with one of her best combos being going from a hanging figure-four necklock to a flying front dropkick, which never ceases to impress fans.

Although Sae considers Yanagase Pro Wrestling to be her home promotion, Sae can also regularly be seen wrestling in many other promotions. She has been a singles and tag team championship holder in the Nagano-based Shinsyu Girls Pro Wrestling.

Sae also continues to wrestle for larger promotions, among them being BJW, and WAVE.

No matter the size of the promotion that Sae wrestles in, she is always prominent as someone who is forging her own path as she showcases her talents, ambition, and unique style. Whether it's in Yanagase Pro Wrestling where Sae represents the Ladius brand or it's one of the many other promotions that she wrestles in, Sae is someone to keep an eye on as she is on her way to leaving her mark on the Japanese wrestling scene.

Tohoku Tag Team Championship Changes Hands in Michinoku Pro

History was made on March 16 at the Michinoku Pro event in Iwate, when the Tohoku Tag Team Championship changed hands as Rasse and Ringo Yamaya defeated Kagetora & Yoshitsune to win the championship, with Yamaya gaining the three count over Kagetora after a La Magistral.

This is the third time that Rasse is Tohoku Tag Team Champion, and Ringo Yamaya's first. Other great teams that are a part of the lineage of the Tohoku Tag Team Championship include Yapper Man 1 & Yapper Man 2, and Jinsei Shinzaki & The Great Sasuke.

Rasse and Ringo Yamaya had wrestled each other many times since Yamaya's debut in May 2022, with Rasse displaying power moves and submissions, while Yamaya showed fighting spirit. This year they combined their strengths and began tag teaming, with Rasse and Yamaya's contrasting styles complementing each other. Rasse can control an opponent in the ring, weakening them. Yamaya can capitalize on this opening with high-energy attacks, potentially leading to a quick pinfall.

The Tohoku Tag Team Championship victory is an impressive highlight on the resumes of Rasse and Ringo Yamaya. Along with this being Rasse's third Tohoku Tag Team Championship reign, he has won the Chiba Six Man Tag Team Championship a record three times. Meanwhile, with only one year of in-ring experience, Yamaya has accomplished the impressive feat of becoming co-holder of one of the most legitimate tag titles in pro-wrestling, with the prestigious Tohoku Tag Team Championship having the distinction of having legends as a part of its legacy. Along with the earlier-mentioned legends, Último Dragón, Kensuke Sasaki, and Dick Togo have also held the championship.

Ringo Yamaya has been a member of the Michinoku Pro roster ever since his pro-wrestling career began, and although Rasse is a freelancer, he has wrestled in Michinoku Pro for most of his career, and spends enough time in the promotion to call Michinoku Pro his home.

Wrestler Spotlight: Yanagase Kamen Fuerza - The Ace of Yanagase Pro Wrestling

Yanagase Kamen Fuerza has been a member of Yanagase Pro Wrestling since its launch in May 2017. In fact, the first match of his career was at YPW's debut event. Much is not known about Fuerza, to the extent that even where he received his wrestling training is a mystery. But what is definitely known is that Fuerza possesses technical skills beyond his years of ring experience that leave a lasting impression on fans every time he competes in a YPW ring.

Being a masked wrestler his entire career, Yanagase Kamen Fuerza's true identity is a closely guarded secret- even his birthplace is not known. This makes Fuerza one of the most intriguing wrestlers on the independent Japanese wrestling scene. The name, "Yanagase Kamen Fuerza" translates to "Yanagase Masked Force", which fits a wrestler with his fighting spirit. While details regarding Fuerza's personal life and athletic background are unknown, his energetic performances in the ring show that he has a passion for the pro-wrestling industry.

Being with Yanagase Pro Wrestling since day one, Yanagase Kamen Fuerza has earned the reputation of being YPW's ace, being a favorite of many members of the promotion's loyal fanbase as he displays impressive chain wrestling during his matches.

Able to seamlessly transition between grappling holds and technical maneuvers, as well as not being a stranger to aerial attacks, Yanagase Kamen Fuerza has had the opportunity to display his talents outside of Yanagase Pro Wrestling. For example, Fuerza has wrestled for ZERO1 on two occasions.

Although Yanagase Kamen Fuerza competes both in singles and tag team matches, he most often sees tag team action, usually teaming with Jack Kennedy. Their team is named "Ace Power", representing Fuerza's ace status and Kennedy's power advantage that he has in matches. They have good tag team chemistry, with Fuerza's technical skills complementing Kennedy's strength, making them a competitive team.

Yanagase Kamen Fuerza is synonymous with Yanagase Pro Wrestling, and as YPW's fanbase grows, so will Fuerza's impact on the industry, as more fans learn about the fighting spirit of Yanagase's masked force.

Wrestler Spotlight: Tomoryu - An Inspiration and a Leader

Tomoryu, nicknamed "Mr. Deaf Pro Wrestling", is a wrestler who has been a part of the independent Japanese wrestling scene for the past 17 years, which is a testament to his dedication to the industry. Fueled by his admiration for the legendary Genichiro Tenryu, Tomoryu overcomes adversity every time he steps in the ring.

Although Tomoryu has wrestled in many promotions including FMW, his home promotion is HERO, which was launched in February 2010, and at the time they were known as “DEAF JAPAN PRO-WRESTLING HERO”, due to the fact that their goal was to create events that would serve as a bridge between the hearing impaired and people who are not hearing impaired. In August 2016, the promotion’s name was changed to “HERO: Barrier-Free Pro-Wrestling”, with their target audience becoming not only the hearing impaired but also the visually impaired, people who use wheelchairs, and pro-wrestling fans in general. HERO’s roster includes hearing-impaired wrestlers who compete in matches with the other wrestlers, which shows that HERO’s, “barrier-free” attitude even extends to the ring.

The ace of HERO, Tomoryu has been with the promotion since day one, and in February 2020 he became co-holder of the WBC (World Barrier Free Championship) Tag Team Championship, making him the first male deaf wrestler to hold a professional wrestling championship. This victory signifies not only Tomoryu's honed skills but also the culmination of years respecting Genichiro Tenryu's fighting spirit and Tomoryu's unwavering passion for professional wrestling.

Although Tomoryu wrestles able-bodied wrestlers, he does not fully consider his hearing loss to be a handicap, and he overcomes it through strong will and training.

The only remaining original member of HERO, Tomoryu's contributions extend far beyond what he does in the ring as the wrestler's chairman of HERO and being the leader and organizer of the wrestlers' association, which demonstrates his dedication to the well-being and fair treatment of the HERO roster. This leadership role sheds light on Tomoryu's character, showcasing his well-roundedness and his passion for the industry as a whole.

Tomoryu's championship success, tenacity in the ring, and leadership role within HERO make him an inspirational figure in the pro-wrestling industry. With hard work and dedication, not only to his career but also to the careers of the other wrestlers on the HERO roster, Tomoryu has the potential to continue making a significant impact both in and outside of the ring.

Bull Nakano: A Hall of Fame Career and the Pillar of Sukeban

The wrestling industry and its fans reacted very positively this week to the announcement that Bull Nakano will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024. It's appropriate that she will be the first Japanese female wrestler in history to be a member of WWE's HOF- Nakano has one of the most impressive resumes in Japanese women's wrestling, with the legend having left a mark on women's wrestling in Japan, Mexico, and America.

Bull Nakano's career began in AJW, where she held the AJW, WWWA Tag Team, and AJW Junior Championships before she turned 20 years old, with her reign as AJW Champion being the longest in history. Nakano held the All Pacific Championship in 1989, and then went on to win the WWWA World Championship in January 1990, beginning a reign that became the longest in the WWWA World Championship's history. Not even ten years into her career at that point, Nakano had already cemented her status as a remarkable member of the industry. But Nakano's championship success was just beginning.

In 1992, Bull Nakano began wrestling in Mexico, where she became the first CMLL World Women's Champion in CMLL's history.

In 1994, Bull Nakano returned to WWE (she had wrestled for them previously in 1986), and after being with the company for only six months, Nakano won the WWE (WWF) Women's Championship, becoming the first Japanese woman wrestler to hold a WWE singles championship. The match occurred in November 1994 at AJW Doumu Super Woman Great War - Big Egg Wrestling Universe, with her opponent being Alundra Blayze.

Bull Nakano was known for her innovative in-ring style, which was a blend of power moves and surprising agility, making her a dominant wrestler wherever she competed. Another aspect that made Nakano stand out was that she was unique. It's often said that the easiest path to success is to model yourself after those who are already successful. Instead of doing that, Nakano looked and acted differently from everyone else. She was her own person, which put Nakano on a more fruitful path.

Add Bull Nakano's charisma and intensity that she displayed during matches, and Nakano had all of the makings of an icon of women's wrestling. Being a member of the WWE Hall of Fame is not just recognition of a wrestler's accomplishments, but also the impact that they have had on the industry. Bull Nakano inspired a generation of female wrestlers and helped elevate the perception of women's wrestling on a global scale. Her forthcoming induction is well-earned.

Today, while celebrating her past achievements, Bull Nakano also has her eyes set on the future, with the potential to once again elevate the perception of women's wrestling. Bull Nakano is now the Commissioner of Sukeban, a new Japanese wrestling league that is based in the United States, with Sukeban events being hosted in New York and Florida last year. The industry and fans alike are eager to see how her experience and leadership will shape this exciting venture. Nakano's legacy precedes her, and as Sukeban Commissioner, Nakano takes on the role of a pillar of the league, leveraging her experience to shape Sukeban's future.

Bull Nakano's induction into the WWE Hall of Fame is a testament to her incredible career. And her ever-evolving story continues, as Bull Nakano's influence on the world of wrestling is far from over.
